Scope was founded in a partnership between Michael Murray and Kareem Zaki of Thrive Capital. Together they built a team of seasoned leaders with deep healthcare expertise to achieve their vision. Today, Scope is lead by CEO Roy Mabrey, formerly of Palantir Technologies. He is joined by Ross Barrett as VP of Engineering and Jeremy Richards, Chief Architect and Head of AI.
Ross Barrett is Scope Security’s VP of Engineering. Ross brings more than a decade and a half of security industry and software engineering leadership to the team. Ross’ career has focused on developing and maturing engineering talent in globally distributed, fast paced, dynamic teams with a focus on data collection, risk, compliance, and vulnerability assessment.
Prior to joining Scope, Ross was most recently Senior Director of Engineering for Platform at Rapid7, where he led the group responsible for security data collection from ~6 million endpoint agents and over 150 million scanned endpoints in thousands of customer environments around the world, alongside collector and network sensor infrastructure management.
His department was also responsible for Platform shared services including access control, secret management, and data access. Before Rapid7, Ross worked with Tenable and nCircle Network Security as a security researcher and software engineer. Ross’ speaking engagements include SecTOR, TASK, BSides, and numerous industry events.
Jeremy has spent the last two decades becoming an expert in both exploitation and detection and AI technologies. Most recently, he was a Principal Security Intelligence Engineer at Lookout, where he created the machine learning models behind Lookout’s PhishingAI and assisted in discovering APT threats on mobile globally. Previously, he was a senior security research engineer at Saint, Digital Defense, and nCircle. Jeremy is passionate about AI and machine learning, and feature engineering for anti-malware and anomaly detection.
Michael Krec is a Telecommunications Security Expert and Scope’s Engineering Leader. He leads the building and operations of Scope’s technology stack, leading the development of our microservices, CI/CD pipelines, and our Terraform and Kubernetes environments. An experienced telecommunications security expert, his core focus areas include cloud infrastructure, automated deployments, and full service architectures. Michael holds an Honours BSc degree in Computer Science from the University of Toronto and a CISSP certification from (ISC)2.
